Brazilian Legend Kaka Paid A Visit To Stadium St Petersburg
Brazilian legend Kaka paid a visit to the facilities of Stadium St Petersburg as part of Chinese TV’s build of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The hosts are busy with the final touches for the global tournament starting in June, and Kaka spoke about his experience during a visit to the stadium owned by Zenit St Petersburg, he said: “It's the first time I've been to Stadium St Petersburg and it's my first time in this city.
“I can see that everything is ready for the World Cup and it's important that this arena will remain a team's stadium after the tournament. I can't say that I know a lot about Zenit, but I know a bit because my friend Hulk played here. In the summer, I plan to come here again to watch a few matches.”
Kaka was part of the Brazilian side which won the World Cup in 2002, and the nation have since fallen short at the global tournament with their best finish being in 2014, where they reached the semi-final in front of their supporters – only to suffer an embarrassing 7-1 defeat to eventual champions Germany.
Brazil will enter the 2018 World Cup with the tag of being one of the favourites, and they may realistically fancy their chances this time around, owing to a number of world-beaters within their squad. The likes of Philippe Coutinho and Neymar are undoubtedly the first biggest names in the country’s roster, but they are plenty of other emerging players including Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino, who played key roles in the club’s qualifying campaign.
Nevertheless, the South American nation can expect the usual competition from the likes of Spain and Germany whilst Belgium and France could be seen as dark horses of the tournament with both countries possessing talents, who can turn the game singlehandedly. The World Cup begins with Russia hosting Saudi Arabia on June 14.
