KAKA SPEAKS ON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MEMORIES

Brazilian football icon Kaka has told MilanTV that he remembers about the Champions League atmosphere. Kaka sat down with the official TV of seven-time European champions AC Milan to talk about his experiences when it comes to the Champions League.

Kaka spoke to MilanTV shortly before his former club travelled to Madrid to take on Spanish champions Atletico Madrid in a Champions League Group D clash. The Milan legend said that his memories of the Champions League include the fans at the stadium, the games and the anthem.

On his debut goal in the Champions League against Belgian top flight side Club Brugge, Kaka said that the goal came at the end as he applied a trademark finish to the cross from compatriot and Brazilian national team colleague Cafu. He added that his first Champions League goal was unforgettable and that he arrived in a similar fashion as his first Milan goal which came in the Derby.

Kaka also said a lot of things about the 2005 Champions League final between his Milan side and Liverpool in Istanbul, Turkey. According to him, the 2005 final was one of the best ever in the Champions League and that it was unfortunate that his team lost the game. Kaka said not winning the 2005 final despite taking a three-goal lead at the half-time break was difficult for him to take as he knows that it's very difficult to reach a Champions League final. The penalty shootout defeat to Liverpool was a tough one for the Brazilian and that it taught him a lot as a person and a professional.

Milan were pegged back by the Reds with three goals in six minutes at the start of the second half before they saw off the Rossoneri on penalties to win the 2004/05 Champions League title. Milan would avenge that defeat two years later via a 2-1 win in the 2007 final.
