8 Brazilians In The Premier League In 2018-2019

While Brazilian star Kaka never played in the English Premier League despite interest from top clubs over the years including Manchester City in 2017, a number of his former national team squad members have.

As the 2018-2019 season kicks off, we check out eight Brazilian stars – some current national team members, some emerging talents – who are set to make a mark this year.

Richarlison​

Richarlison was the only player to play every Watford game of the 2017-2018 season, scoring five goals. His impressive year was capped by a move to Everton for the 2018-2019 season where he has already made a mark, scoring three goals in three games.

Lucas Moura​

Lucas Moura might have become surplus to requirements at cash-rich Paris St. Germain but he was impressive throughout his six-year career in the French capital. The creative winger, who’s found favour as a false nine in early games for new club Spurs, has given star striker Harry Kane help in the goals department. He adds to the London club’s abundance of playmaking talent which includes Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.

Kenedy​

The dynamic Newcastle winger will hope his performances in the Premier League will earn him a call-up to the national team having already represented Brazil at under 17, under 20 and under 23 level. After a lacklustre World Cup 2018, Kenedy may well prove to be a solid addition to a squad in need of youthful fearlessness. Certainly, he’s the sort of player who could make an impact upon international football betting when it comes to picking the winners and losers of next year’s Copa America.

Gabriel Jesus

Jesus, the Brazilian forward introduced at Manchester City with an eye on succeeding Sergio Aguero as the club’s starting striker, enjoyed plenty of success in his first season, scoring 21 in 43 appearances. City fans can expect more of the same in the 2018-2019 season.

Firmino’s consistent performances will be key to Liverpool’s chances of deposing Manchester City as English Premier League champions.

Kaka is one of the great creative midfielders to never have played in the English Premier League. Like his former teammates Dani Alves, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, he’s one of several Brazilian greats to have left England’s top division wondering what might have been.
