KAKA – NOT EASY LEAVING EUROPE FOR MLS
Orlando City star Kaka has warned European stars that have been linked with a move to the Major League Soccer that it is not easy.
The former Brazil international asked that players be ready to give 100 percent or suffer in the top flight soccer league.
The 34-year old player is in his final contract year but adds that he wants to remain at the club if there is a new deal.
“The travel and climate is difficult, but I don’t think it’s a difficult as the mentality here. Because sometimes the players arrive from Europe and they think it’s going to be easy. They think, ‘Ok, I’m going there and I played in big clubs in Europe and it’s going to be easy.
“So this is the challenge the players need to understand is not going to be easy,” the 2002 World Cup star said.
Kaka has featured for some of the biggest clubs in Europe like AC Milan, and Real Madrid before his move to North America.
There have been a lo of imports into the MLS over the last decade. Former Real Madrid star David Beckam, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, Robbie Keane and many others have also moved to the league.
Kaka said he spoke to Beckham and his brother [Digao] about the move as they had experience playing in the MLS. He said he heard that it would be difficult as many think a lower level of performance is required to get results as the league was not as competitive as their European counterparts.
Kaka admitted that the pressure of old age were getting to him but that he remained challenged and answered on the pitch.
Orlando have not reached the postseason for two years running but Kaka thinks that can change this term.
