TIAGO TOMAS STILL ON ARSENAL RADAR

Highly rated Sporting Lisbon attacker Tiago Tomas is still a target for Premier League heavyweights Arsenal. This is according to the report from popular transfer news portal Tuttomercatoweb. It was stated that the Gunners will have to wait till next summer if they want to do a deal for the teenager who has been likened to Brazilian football icon Kaka.

19-year-old Tomas has drawn similarities with Milan legend Kaka who was the recipient of the 2007 BallonD'or Award. Kaka was one of the best players in the world during his time as a professional football player.

Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for Tiago Tomas during this summer’s transfer window on the back of a stellar season at Sporting Lisbon. Tomas was part of the Sporting Lisbon squad that won the league title last season ahead of rivals FC Porto, Benfica and Sporting Braga.
Tiago started 16 games plus 14games off the bench as Sporting Lisbon won the PrimeiraLiga title. In total, he scored three times in 30 league games on the way to winning the title. The young attacker has a release clause of £52m in his existing contract at Sporting Lisbon.
A report in February started that Arsenal are prepared to take advantage of the financial uncertainty at Sporting Lisbon by offering just £20m for Tiago. The Gunners were ready to offer almost half of his release clause. In the end, Arsenal didn't sign the Sporting Lisbon player. The Arsenal board still backed their manager with a lot of young and quality signings in the summer.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was a major influence as the club signed six players to boost his squad. The Gunners spent over £150m on those six players. TakehiroTomiyasu, Nuno Tavares, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Albert SambiLokonga all arrived at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
