Orlando City Star Kaka Ruled out for Six Weeks due to Hamstring Injury

The worst was feared for midfielder Kaka when he went down with a serious injury in the season opener against New York City. Orlando City had managed to beat New York City 1-0 in the opening game of the 2017 MLS season, but there was a huge setback for the club in the form of an injury to Kaka.

Scans on the injury have revealed that the Brazilian midfielder will be unavailable for up to 6 weeks. This comes as a major blow for the team, but captain Jonathan Spector is confident about handling the unavailability of the star player.

Kaka is undoubtedly the biggest name in the MLS, and he also earns the highest salary, which is reported to be in excess of $ 6 million. His creative presence would have been a major factor behind the club finally making a push for the play-off places. Last season, Orlando City missed out on the play-offs by just one point in the Eastern conference table.

However, they have made a strong start to the campaign after managing to beat New York City, who still possess an excellent attack due to the likes of David Villa.

As a result of this injury, Kaka is now set to miss up to 5 matches for the team. His return date has been set for the game against New York Red Bulls.
“He’s a great player and he’s a loss, certainly, but Giles [Barnes] came in and did extremely well. That’s one of the great things about this team, we have so much strength and depth. When someone like Kaká goes down and someone like Giles Barnes comes in. . . . I think we are in a really good position,” said Spector. It is expected that recent addition Giles Barnes will be the replacement for Kaka in the forthcoming games.
