Kaka Appears to Suffer Hamstring Injury in First Game of The 2017 MLS season

Orlando City have suffered a major blow for the 2017 MLS campaign after watching star player Kaka limp off from the opening game of the season with what appeared to be a serious injury.

Orlando City secure a narrow 1-0 win over New York City thanks to a goal from CyleLarin in the 15th minute. Kaka is one of the important players at Orlando City. He isthe highest earning player in the MLS after the departures of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. More importantly, he is the creative presence within the team.

The former Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder has suffered from numerous hamstring injuries in his career, and it seems to be a repeat of the same. It is an injury that could rule the player out of the next few weeks. Orlando City began the season in positive fashion, but question marks have been raised about the ability to sustain this start without a player like a Kaka in the team. The club’s next match of the season sees them take on New England Revolution away from home.

New England started the campaign in poor fashion after a 1-0 loss against Colorado Rapids. Former Derby County Giles Barnes replaced Kaka, who had contributed immensely last season with nine goals and 10 assists for the club last season.

Kaka recently spoke with confidence about returning to the Brazil national team once again. “For me it’s still important. If there is a chance for me to return to the squad then I would be really happy. To be honest, the team are in good form at the moment with a coach who has managed to obtain some great results whilst playing some great football. This squad impresses me very much, Neymar is fantastic but the group as a whole are very strong,” said the 34-year-old.
